This collection consists of personal correspondence, photographs, scrapbooks, and legal records, all centered aroung Alice V.D. Pierrepont. The bulk of the personal correspondence, 1853-ca. 1960, was written by Alice's aunt Virginia Kidd Field, who moved to Texas in the 1870s. Her letters to her family remaining in Ala. provide illustrations of domestic life on the Texas prairie, including views of education, Alabama society, entertainment, plants and animals, and life in general. The rest of the correspondence and scrapbooks detail Alice V.D. Pierrepont's genealogical research throughout the state of Virginia. The legal records, 1818-1830, were land deeds to the Vaughn Family in Virginia, and the photographs depict Vaughn, Kidd, and Pierrepont Family members.
